Medical Information

About This Medicine

Lenzetto is a transdermal estradiol spray for hormone replacement therapy, offering a unique delivery method. The spray is applied to the forearm daily and dries quickly, delivering estradiol through the skin. It provides the benefits of transdermal oestrogen (lower VTE risk than oral) in a format that avoids the adhesive-related skin irritation sometimes experienced with patches. The metered-dose pump delivers a consistent dose with each spray.

Usage & Dosage

How to Apply Lenzetto

Apply one to three sprays to the inner forearm once daily. Allow the spray to dry for at least two minutes before getting dressed. Do not rub the application area. Wash your hands after applying.

Keep the application area covered or avoid skin contact with others for at least one hour after applying, as the oestradiol in Lenzetto can transfer to other people if they come into skin contact with the area. This is particularly important around children and men. Your prescriber will advise on the correct dose based on your symptoms and response to treatment.

Start with one spray (1.53 mg estradiol) daily. Increase to two or three sprays if symptoms are not adequately controlled after 4 to 6 weeks. Women with a uterus must also take a progestogen.

Side Effects

Common Side Effects

Common side effects include:

  • Mild reactions at the application site (redness, itching)
  • Breast tenderness
  • Headache
  • Nausea

As with all oestrogen-containing HRT, Lenzetto may slightly increase the risk of blood clots and certain hormone-sensitive conditions with long-term use. Your doctor will discuss the benefits and risks for your individual situation. Regular breast checks and routine health reviews are recommended during treatment.

Warnings & Precautions

Allow to dry fully before covering with clothing. Do not apply to broken or irritated skin. Women with a uterus require progestogen opposition. Avoid contact with others at the application site for one hour.

Contraindications

Same as other HRT: known or suspected breast cancer, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, active VTE, active liver disease, and porphyria.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the spray better than patches?
Lenzetto offers an alternative for women who experience skin irritation from adhesive patches. Both bypass the liver and carry lower VTE risk than oral HRT. The choice between spray, patch, or gel is usually based on personal preference and skin tolerance.
