About This Medicine
Meno-Check is a home testing kit that measures follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels in urine to help determine whether menopausal changes may be occurring. Elevated FSH levels suggest reduced ovarian function, which is characteristic of perimenopause and menopause. The test provides a quick, private screening that can guide the decision to seek medical advice about menopausal symptoms and HRT.
Usage & Dosage
How to Use the Meno-Check Test
Collect a first morning urine sample where possible, as morning urine contains the highest concentration of FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) and gives the most reliable result. Follow the kit instructions carefully to perform the test, and read the result within the specified timeframe stated in the packaging — reading too late or too early can give an inaccurate result.
Interpreting the Result
A positive result (elevated FSH) suggests you may be in perimenopause or have reached menopause. A negative result means FSH levels are currently within the premenopausal range. However, a single test result is not sufficient to diagnose menopause. FSH levels fluctuate naturally and can vary significantly from day to day in perimenopause.
Always discuss the result with your doctor before making any decisions about HRT or other treatments. A blood test at your GP surgery or clinic provides the most accurate FSH measurement.
Single-use test. Some kits include two tests to be performed one week apart for confirmation. A positive result indicates elevated FSH consistent with perimenopause or menopause.
Side Effects
Not Applicable
The Meno-Check is a diagnostic urine test, not a medication. It has no side effects. There are no risks associated with performing the test correctly.
If you have questions about interpreting your result or what steps to take next, speak with your doctor or a healthcare professional. A test result alone cannot confirm or exclude menopause without clinical assessment.
Warnings & Precautions
A positive result does not diagnose menopause on its own. FSH levels fluctuate during perimenopause. The test should not be used while taking hormonal contraception or HRT, as these affect FSH levels. Consult your prescriber for formal assessment.
Contraindications
Not applicable. However, results may be unreliable if using hormonal contraception, HRT, or fertility treatments.
